Installing Sun Java Plugin on Firefox, Ubuntu Hardy Amd64

Posted in Tricky, Ubuntu by luckyborneo on September 13, 2009

Yeah.. It seems very simple. All you can do just installing these packages from synaptic packages manager:

$ sudo apt-get install sun-java-6-bin sun-java-6-jre sun-java-6-fonts sun-java-6-plugin

That’s it, then your browser firefox will have Sun Java Plugin. Check it within type “about:plugins” without quotes at the firefox’s address bar or on your terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal), type this command:

$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode)

Then, visit this URL – http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml ; it will tells you that your browser will works with Sun Java Plugin. Have a nice try, dude… 😉
